About the prize
The Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize is an annual exhibition and acquisitive award presenting recent work by Australian and New Zealand artists. It highlights
exciting developments in contemporary art and provides a platform for an artistselected exhibition that features established artists alongside early-career artists.
This unique structure recognises the importance of dialogue and mentoring between generations of artists and provides an opportunity to reward talent and
excellence in the contemporary visual arts sector.
This year’s guest curator is Sydney artist (and 2015 award winner) Mikala Dwyer. Dwyer has selected 21 established artists to participate who, in turn, have each
nominated an emerging artist to also present work in the exhibition.
Mikala Dwyer is a Sydney-based artist whose practice is highly regarded in Australia and internationally. At the limits of sculpture, architecture and installation, her work reveals an idiosyncratic, experimental and experiential approach to materials and her sculptures are invariably associated with
the body and personal spaces.
