By moving a lever on the Shrinking Machine (2015), objects placed inside it appear to shrink down into smaller versions. The Shrinking Machine is an invention that parallels the process of reduction occurring with digital technology, as computers become smaller, faster and more compact. As technology becomes more compact it increases the amount of information we encounter in our daily lives. The Shrinking Machine is a response to these ideas of expansion and contraction. Through the use of Frensel lens to create an optical effect, it draws attention to this process of technological reduction.
