My work can best be described as a culmination of personal experiences, especially those which involve a metaphorical analysis of my relationships with other people, and how I believe they may perceive me. I create objects and environments, which can be interpreted as being embodiments of fictional psyches. Whilst my work is a characterisation of my way of thinking, I regard my thinking as critical rather than rational. My approach is an erratic one, involving an almost endless cycle of questioning, without resolve.
I use a variety of materials to construct complex forms, giving a sense of tangibility to the artwork. Each part of the structure is assembled by hand, the entirety of the work is given a rudimentary, organic quality, to be perceived as a living object. Its subject matter pertains to a selection of reference images brought together to create hybrid assemblages with intricate structures.
Through the creation of these objects and environments with readily available materials such as paper, plastics and cloth, I intend to make physical an imagining of personalities.
