My most recent work Smoke (2015) consists of multiple panels of inkjet prints pinned to the wall. The title gives a straightforward account of the content, however
more important is the juxtaposition of the images and their position in the sequence – their syntax. Gaze and gesture operate simultaneously to create an impression of a graph as the viewers’ eyes move across the sixteen panels. My characters represent a generation of rock musicians influenced by punk and sixties counterculture. With nostalgic reminiscence, Smoke nods to a time preceding digitised sound, when a rising tide of rebellion was disrupting the established order of things, while also recognising a more conceptual approach to engagement with the human form from my earlier work.
